What is Trestle Bike Park?

Trestle Bike Park, located at Winter Park, Colorado, holds the title of the largest full-service downhill bike park in the United States. For the past decade, it has also earned recognition as the “Fastest Growing Bike Park.” With one of the biggest rental fleets in North America, Trestle was designed as a welcoming, progressive park for riders of all skill levels to enhance their abilities. The idea for a downhill park at Winter Park Resort stemmed from the success of summer activities and the growing popularity of cross-country biking in the area. Since the early 1990s, mountain biking has been a popular summer activity at Winter Park Resort and across the Fraser Valley, with riders using the Zephyr lift as far back as 1995 to enjoy the gravity-fueled ride back down.

Spring Awakening

As the last remnants of winter melted away, the sun broke through the clouds, bathing Trestle Bike Park in a warm glow. The vibrant greens of spring were alive with the sound of chirping birds and the rushing of melting snow in the nearby river.

Riders flocked to the park, eager to hit the trails after months of waiting. The park, renowned for its diverse terrain, stretched out before them—flow trails, technical descents, and jumps beckoned.

The first choice for many was the Flow Trail, a winding path through wildflowers that danced in the gentle breeze. The smooth, rolling hills allowed riders to build speed effortlessly. With banked turns and small jumps, the rhythm of pedaling matched the thumping of their hearts, creating a symphony of spring energy.

Summer Thrills

As summer arrived, Trestle transformed into a hub of excitement. The park buzzed with riders from all over the country, drawn to the infamous “Berminator” trail, known for its steep turns and massive jumps.

Gathering their courage, riders lined up at the trailhead, the sun high and the dirt tacky—perfect for gripping tires. Navigating the first few turns smoothly, adrenaline surged as they approached the first jump. Launching off the lip, time seemed to stand still as they soared through the air, the world below shrinking. The landings were smooth, and the thrill of continued descent kept them moving forward.

Later, many chose to tackle the park’s downhill sections. The contrast was striking—narrow, technical paths demanded precision and focus. Each ride became a battle against gravity, and the satisfaction of conquering each section was electric.

Autumn Adventures

As autumn painted the park in fiery hues of orange and gold, riders returned for weekend adventures. The crisp air hinted at the coming winter, and while the trails still invited, they had a different feel. Leaves crunched under tires, creating a symphony of sounds as they glided down the paths.

A group decided to tackle the “Boulder Dash,” a trail notorious for its rocky terrain. It required skill, and determination was high. With each turn, the challenges grew—tight switchbacks, steep descents, and boulders that tested balance and nerve.

The joy of riding with friends, the thrill of pushing limits, and the breathtaking views of the changing landscape made every moment unforgettable. As they reached the end of the trail, the sun dipped low, casting a golden glow over the park. Stories of rides and near-misses were shared, laughter echoing in the fading light.

Winter Wonders

Winter arrived quickly, blanketing Trestle Bike Park in a layer of snow. While many tucked their bikes away, others had a different plan. The park transformed into a winter playground, and riders prepared for a unique adventure: fat biking.

With specially designed tires gripping the snow, they ventured onto the winter trails. The landscape was silent, the world wrapped in a soft, white embrace. Riding through fresh powder felt like flying, and the tranquility of the winter forest enveloped them.

Exploring new paths, they marveled at the untouched beauty of snow-covered pines. Occasionally stopping to catch their breath, they took in the serene stillness of the park. In the distance, fellow riders raced through the snow, their laughter echoing in the crisp air.

A Year of Adventure

As the seasons cycled, each moment spent at Trestle Bike Park became cherished. The versatility of the terrain allowed for experiences in mountain biking that seemed endless. Whether gliding through vibrant spring blooms, conquering summer trails, navigating autumn leaves, or fat biking in the winter, every ride brought new thrills and challenges.

With each visit, the park felt more like home, a sanctuary of adventure and camaraderie that shaped a passion for biking. The memories made were etched in the hearts of all who rode there, knowing that no matter the season, Trestle would always call them back for the ride of a lifetime.
